North Maluku is one of the provinces in Indonesia. Provinces commonly abbreviated as Malut consists of several islands in the Maluku Islands.

This is the temporary capital of the province of Ternate. Sofifi, a village in Northern Oba, is the definitive capital of the province of North Maluku.


Geographical Condition

The total area of North Maluku province reached 140,255.32 km ² . Most are marine waters, namely an area of 106,977.32 km ² (76.27%) . The remaining area of 33 278 km ² (23.73%) was the mainland.

The total population of North Maluku in 2005 there were 970 443, with a density of 29, there are 6 districts, 2 cities, 45 districts and 730 villages / village. The majority are Muslims (76.1%), protestant (23.1%), others (0.8%).

Administratively divided into six regional districts and regions namely the City of North Halmahera regency, East Halmahera, West Halmahera, South halmahera District, Central Halmahera, Sula Island District, Ternate, Tidore.

North Maluku Province is geographically located in the East Sea is bordered by Halmahera West bordering Maluku Sea, Nort Sea bordering the Pacific Ocean, the south by the Seram Sea. Located at 3o north latitude up to 30 south latitude and 1240 to 1290 east longitude. This region is crossed by the equator, precisely in Central Halmahera, which gives important effect on the warning ocean water that moves from Indonesia to the Pasific Ocean.

Geo position of North Maluku Province in regional and International perspectives are in a strategic position because it is located on the lip Pacific ( Pacific Reem ) that directly deal with the countries of East Asia and Pacific countries and is a path between the two continents of Asia and Australia and two oceans Indian and Pacific. In the globalization era, this area is an area very economic growth due to a shift in the economic growth of European Regions.


Tribe

Nort Maluku, also there are several tribes, among others :

Tribe Module, tribe Pagu, Tribe Ternate, Western Makian Tribe, Tribe Kao, Tidore Tribe, Tribe Buli, Tribe Patani, Maba Tribe, Tribe Sawai, Wade Tribe, Tribe Gne, East Makian Tribe, Tribe Kayoa, Bacan Tribe, Tribe Sula, Ange Tribe, Tribe Siboyo, Tribe Kadai, Tribe Galela, Tobelo Tribe, Tribe Loloda, Tobaru Tribe, Tribe Sahu.


Islands

North Maluku province consists of 395 islands large and small. The island is inhabited by as many as 64 pieces, which are not inhabited by as many as 331 fruits.

Regional economies are mainly from people's economy relies on agriculture, fisheries, and other types of seafood.

* Banana Plantation in Galela ( Halmahera Island )
* Fisheries with fishery involving the people, by PT Mina Enterprises ( SOES) in Panamboang ( Bacan Island )
* Gold Mine by Pt. Nusa Halmahera Minerals in Kao and Malifut ( Halmahera Island )
* Nikel Mine by PT. Aneka Tambang on Gebe and Pakal Island
